Using Bookmarks

Bookmarks are how you organize your Bookshelf, like sticky notes for your cookbooks and recipes, but searchable. You must be on your Bookshelf, not in the Library.

Bookmarking a recipe or book

  1. Click the Bookmark icon, or the chef’s hat on a recipe.
  2. Pick an existing Bookmark, or type a new name and click Add New, then Save.

The Add Bookmark box: tick an existing Bookmark or type a new name and click Add New.

Three recipe Bookmarks come built in: “I want to cook this” (turns the chef’s hat orange), “I’ve cooked this” (green), and “Favorite Recipes,” plus “Favorite Books” for books.

Searching with Bookmarks

Use Show Only (recipes) or Look in Books to search within a Bookmarked group, like only the books in the kitchen, or only your dinner-party list.

Ideas from our members

  • Location tags for books split between homes (a book in two places gets two tags)
  • Library loans, easy to search while you have them and easy to delete when they go back
  • Books loaned to friends, so you remember who has what
  • Menus for a dinner party or the week’s meals
  • A “zucchini” list for garden season
  • Themes like “Comfort food,” “Sunday lunches,” or “Must try”

Editing and deleting

On the Bookmarks tab, the pencil renames a Bookmark, the file icon shows everything tagged with it, and the x deletes it (removing the tag from every book and recipe that carried it). To untag a single recipe or book, click the x next to that Bookmark on its page.

The Bookmarks tab: the pencil renames, the file icon lists what is tagged, and the x deletes.
