DELETE - Instructions for library patrons

The library search feature allows library patrons to search for recipes in the cookbooks on the shelves of the library they belong to. Ask your library if they are a member - if they are, then they will give you the sign-in information. If they aren't an EYB member, please suggest they look at the Help page for library admin or contact info@eatyourbooks.com.

Sign-in options for library patrons
When the library joins they set up access options for their patrons - a QR code that can be scanned with a phone camera and a short access URL. If you sign-in at the library location, then no further sign-in is required. If you sign-in at a different location, then you need to enter the library username, which they should also have supplied you.

How to use the library recipe search
When you sign-in, you will land on the search page for the recipes in the library's cookbook collection. You can now search for recipes using either
1. The word search in the green box (which looks for the word in recipe title, author name or ingredients)  or
2. Use the filters on the right (or under the Filter menu on a phone).
Insert image with 1 in search and 2 showing filters.

There are several Help pages on getting the most from recipe searches.

Viewing the library's cookbook collection
In addition to searching for recipes in the library's cookbooks, you can view which books the library has ready to borrow.

1. Click the tab at the top with the library name then Books.
2. Now use the green search box to search by book title or author.
3. Or use the filters on the right (or under the Filter menu on a phone) to search by book types such as topic, special diet, ethnicity, season/occasion, etc.

Insert image with 1 in tab, 2 in search and 3 showing filters.

Searching the EYB collection of cookbooks and online recipes
In addition to searching the collection of your own library, you can search EYB's entire database of almost 170,000 books on food and drink. Click the EYB tab at the top then Books to view the entire collection.
You can view the recipe index for any indexed book by clicking the book title. To see which books have been indexed, apply the Indexed filter at top right (or under Filter menu on a phone). In addition to books we have indexed, there are 800+ books in the database created by ckbk, where the full recipe can be accessed (after joining as a ckbk member). To learn more about our partnership with ckbk, read these Help pages.

Where a recipe from a cookbook or magazine has been reproduced online with the publisher's permission, we provide a link to the full recipe. We also index many food blogs and newspaper columns where every recipe has a link to the full recipe. There are more than 500,000 recipes where you can access the full recipe with one click. This resource is available to you as a library patron.

Use EYB's community knowledge base
Recipe notes and ratings - EYB has been operating for 15 years and we have built a huge repository of experience on using the recipes in cookbooks. Click the Notes icon on any recipe (the speech bubble) and view the notes, ratings and photos submitted by EYB members.
Cookbook calendar - this covers any cookbook-related event we can find out about around the globe - signings, readings, talks, classes, festivals, etc.
EYB Blog - the blog covers new cookbook releases, news of food, drink and restaurants - if there is anything new around the world of food, we want you to hear it from us.
EYB Forum - as a library patron you are not able to add comments on the Forum but you can view the discussions here.

If you own a cookbook or food magazine collection at home and would like to use EYB's powerful search tools to quickly find recipes on your own bookshelves, please consider joining for a personal membership. With a personal membership you can create a Bookshelf of your own cookbooks and magazines and add blogs and online recipes, creating a one-stop search for every recipe you own.
